Mr Donald Petrie worked in the Laichmoray Hotel in Elgin. At the time it was called he Station Hotel. He started working there in 1947 when he was 15. He took this job because at the time there weren’t many jobs around to choose from. He had the job of a bell boy. He had to carry people’s luggage up the stairs and gave the people their room keys. He got £1.25. He didn’t think he had a good wage. He got his breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel.
Donald Petrie was interviewed by Eilidh and Bethany, students at Elgin High School as part of an eleven week elective the S2 students studied on the theme of Local Heritage
