First job was as a nanny in Keith at the age of 15 in 1951.
Her second job was as a weaver in Aberdeen. She married at the age of 20.
Her third job was as a weaver in Keith. She had part-time work and had four children. She worked at Botriphine School as an assistant.

On the farm Joy operated a Bed and Breakfast and helped on the farm. Joy had some funny times with people with a basic grasp of the English language. Made some friendships which have lasted for years.

Additional information
The farm still raises cattle. There was a sale in Huntley in December 2011. OTM cattle are over thirty months.
