Working as a machinist in Liverpool by Irene Hale

Irene chose from lots of jobs before deciding to become a machinist (in 1954) for Marks and Spencers in Liverpool. She sewed blazers and trousers and also made life saving equipment. She also worked as a barmaid and while there spilled beer on a few people. After moving to Elgin she went to work at Bishopmill House on shift work (4 nights on and 4 days off). She was working as a carer there. Bishopmill House closed in the 1990s.
