Collecting berries by Ella Browne

Ella chose to pick berries as something to do. This was in 1932 at the age of 12 or 13. She picked strawberries and gooseberries in Musselburgh. The hours were very long and the wage was 10/- a week. She worked for the Co-op for 15 years and then worked at a fish and chip shop. Once she fell over and all the fish went on the floor.  Ella left to get married. Came to Lossiemouth where the Navy was. It was totally different. They fished out of Oban and came home every third weekend.

Memory contributed Craig from Lossiemouth High School.
Ella Browne was interviewed at Lossiemouth Darby and Joan Club
